Just cross the border into Canada to savor the spectacular views, the delicate mists and shimmering rainbows of this true national treasure. You’ll find all manner of ways to experience this world wonder: the legendary Maid of the Mist boat as you pass by the base of the American Falls, don the giant yellow poncho, get ferried to the base of the Horseshoe Falls and feel the rush of the water as it pounds the rocks below. Beef-on-Weck is another of Buffalo’s specialities: thinly sliced roast beef piled high on a kummelweck roll (a German kaiser roll sprinkled with caraway seeds and pretzel salt and baked again for several minutes until crusty) dipped in au jus and spiced with fresh horseradish. This grand city is also known for Charbroiled Hot Dogs – foot-long frankfurters cooked over glowing coals that infuse each link with a pungent smoky flavor. Bon appetite!
