Come celebrate the ending of 2006 with Chicago's famous New Year's Eve Fireworks display over Monroe Harbor. Revelers will gather at Buckingham Fountain (located at Congress Parkway and Columbus Drive in downtown) in order to witness a pyrotechnic wonder featuring a lighted fountain countdown to the new year. At midnight... fireworks will continue above the lakefront (especially at Navy Pier)... choreographed to musical soundtracks that include rock, pop and classical. Best of all... admission is free.
The Magnificent Mile is a shopaholic’s dream. Tiffany, FAO Schwartz, Gucci, Crate & Barrel, Niketown, and American Girl Place are just a few of the dozens of upscale stores on the glittering mile. At the time of our tour there, Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is transformed into a winter wonderland with more than a million lights. Enjoy the holiday window displays on Michigan Avenue and State Street stores.
Stimulate your senses at Navy Pier! There’s something for everyone: Shops, restaurants, a grand carousel, a 15-story Ferris wheel, ice skating, an IMAX theater and the Chicago’s Children’s Museum all make the pier a great place for one-stop entertainment.
